2024-2025 Programs

We are happy to announce that we have secured the Urban Ecology Center (UEC) in Riverside Park for most of our 2024-25 meetings!

August 23 – Happy Hour in the Suite to celebrate the passage of the 19th Amendment. The United States Congress approved a women's suffrage amendment to the U.S. Constitution and three-fourths of the states ratified it. On August 26, 1920, Secretary of State Bainbridge Colby officially certified the 19th Amendment with his signature and the seal of the United States. Meeting at the Astor Suite from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm.

September 14 – Peggy Creer will introduce the film "Most Dangerous Women," directed and produced by League of Women Voters member Janet Fitch, who passed away in December. This award-winning film is 33 minutes and is an inspiring, moving film about women who are deemed "dangerous" because they speak up and speak out -- and the dangerous women inside of all of us. The League has done presentations of this film at a few public events, and it is always enthusiastically received and a good spark for discussion about women's representation in the halls of power and the difference that makes for all of us. We will meet at the Urban Ecology Center in Riverside Park from 11 am to 2:00 pm.

October 5 – NCWSSL presentation by our very own Yajayra Ayala and an early recognition of the Day of the Girl Child which is October 11th.
