The core purpose of the AAUW-Milwaukee Branch, founded in 1894, is to provide educational opportunities for women through advocacy and direct support.

In 1898, the Milwaukee Branch began to earmark funds for college scholarships for women. To date, the Branch's giving record exceeds $1.25 million.

In addition, AAUW Milwaukee Branch provides support to several locally based organizations through its Donor Advised Fund.

Since its founding, the Branch has cultivated a social, cultural and educational outlet for its members through the sponsoring of lectures, trips and study groups.

Today's AAUW members carry on this important work, impacting Milwaukee's communities by providing scholarships, advocacy and education on the inequities women continue to face academically and in the workplace.
